Your Union Rights at Work: Working people in America have certain basic legal rights to safe, healthy and fair conditions at work. But many employers—perhaps yours—violate these fundamental rights because they value their profits more than their workers.

This site will enable you to find help if that happens to you, with links to government agencies that investigate complaints as well as advocacy organizations that assist people with related problems.

Joining together with the Federation to bargain for better wages, benefits and working conditions is the best opportunity working people have to get ahead.

In fact, the only way to gain a voice on the job and obtain real, positive changes in the workplace is to get it in writing; in a legally binding Federation contract. It makes sense. When we stand alone, we are powerless. Our employer has the upper hand and calls all the shots. However, if we stand together, we gain the ability to demand a fair deal.

You gain respect and dignity on the job:
 •  We have legally binding contracts with your employers.
 •  We negotiate better wages, benefits and working conditions in our contracts.
 •  We give high priority to protecting the jobs of our membership from budget cuts, staff layoffs, privatization, changes in the bureaucratic structure or the unfair arbitrary decision of a supervisor.
 •  We protect your Statutory Rights by providing union representation at investigatory or disciplinary hearings.
